South Africa Iron, Steel output falls 2.2% m-o-m in July: Stats SA

South Africa's July manufacturing output rose by 5.8% compared to the same month of 2011, while the seasonally adjusted manufacturing production is estimated to have decreased by 1.1% month-on-month, as per the preliminary data released by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).

CAPE TOWN (Scrap Monster): South Africa's July manufacturing output rose by 5.8% compared to the same month of 2011, while the seasonally adjusted manufacturing production is estimated to have decreased by 1.1% month-on-month, as per the preliminary data released by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).

In South Africa, the seasonally adjusted production of basic iron and steel products in July decreased by 2.2% month-on-month, while the actual production index of basic iron and steel products saw a decrease of 3% year-on-year.

For basic iron and steel products, the estimated seasonally adjusted sales of manufactured products (at current prices) in July this year decreased by 1.5% compared to June and were up 15.8% year-on-year, amounting to ZAR 7.6 billion ($909 million).
