Brazil's pig iron exports surged higher in 2015
The most recent export statistics released by the Brazilian Trade Ministry indicates that pig iron exports by the country surged higher during the year 2015.
SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): According to statistics provided by the Brazilian Ministry of Development and Foreign Trade, the country’s pig iron exports during the entire year 2015surged higher significantly when compared with the previous year.
Brazil’s pig iron exports totaled 2.752 million tons in 2015. The total exports climbed higher by nearly 6.3% from the previous year. The country’s pig iron exports had totaled 2.589 million tons during 2014.
The country’s exports of pig iron totaled 321,000 tons during December last year. The exports almost doubled when compared with those during Nov ’15. However, the Dec ’15 exports were down significantly by 13.5% when compared with the exports during December 2014. The Brazilian pig iron exports had totaled 370,000 tons during Dec ’14.
The primary destination of Brazilian pig iron exports during Dec ’15 was the US. The country imported 167,000 tons of pig iron from Brazil during the month. The exports to the country were down by 20.6% from the same month a year before. The imports by the US accounted for nearly 52% of the total pig iron exports by Brazil during December last year.
In second place was Mexico with 44,000 tons. The exports to Mexico witnessed rise of 6.3% over the previous year.
