World pig iron output declined 3.6% in June '15
The global pig iron output dropped nearly 3.6% during June '15. The output totaled 97.483 million tons during the month.
BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, the global pig iron output declined by 3.63% over the previous month to 97.483 million tons during the month of June this year. The global of pig iron had totaled 101.158 million tons during the month before this.
The total pig iron production by EU-28 countries during May this year was 7.985 Million tonnes (Mt), lower when compared with the May 2015 production of 8.432 Mt. Germany accounted for 2.460 Mt and the UK’s pig iron output totaled 883,000 mt. France’s pig iron output dropped considerably 980,000 mt in May ’15 to 921,000 mt in June ’15.
Among Asian countries, China accounted for nearly 60% of the world blast-furnace iron output in June 2015. The Chinese output totaled 59,039 Mt during the month. The Indian pig iron output ended slightly lower at 4.757 million mt in June ’15 when compared with the output of 4.986 million mt in May this year. The Japanese pig iron output dropped from 6.774 million mt in May ’15 to 6.548 million mt in June this year. Also, South Korean output remained more or less flat, falling marginally from 3.968 million mt a month before to 3.953 million mt during June ’15.
The US pig iron output edged lower by almost 1.65% to 2.14 million mt. A notable increase in production volume was reported by Slovakia during the month. The country’s pig iron production surged higher from 308,000 mt a month ago to 330,000 mt during June ’15. The other major pig iron producing nations were Russia (4.240 million mt, down 5.8% month-on-month), Germany (2.460 million mt, up 0.4% month-on-month) and Brazil (2.324 million mt, down 4.9% month-on-month).
