Japan steel exports have crossed record highs reaching 43.4 million tons in 2010
TOKYO (Scrap Monster): Japan steel exports have crossed record highs reaching 43.4 million tons in 2010.
Japan’s Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), federation reports that the strong demand from Asian markets has boosted the steel exports to increase by 26% year on year in 2010.
The export of carbon steel has increased by 31% y-o-y to 29.31 million tons; special steel has soared by 61% y-o-y to 7.78 million tons.
JISF also indicated that the exports of special steel soared sharply because the shipments abroad dropped in 2009. The demand from auto and home electronics has also recovered quickly in 2010, which fuelled the exports, Yieh Corp reported.
