Italian crude steel production increased by 4.6% year-on-year to 2.19 million metric tons in January 2012, according to the data released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai.

ROME (Scrap Monster): Italian crude steel production increased by 4.6% year-on-year to 2.19 million metric tons in January 2012, according to the data released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai.

Federacciai also released Italy's December 2011 long and flat steel production data.

According to data, Italy long steel production decreased sharply by 12.7% year-on-year to 706,000 metric tons in December while its flat steel production dip by 20.7% year-on-year to 967,000 metric tons.

In 2011, Italian long steel production advanced by 5.9% to 12.9 million metric tons while flat steel production grew by 14.3% to 14.4 million metric tons.
