Rumpke buys Milliron Industry's waste and recycling assets

Cincinnati, Ohio-headquartered Rumpke Waste and Recycling Co. has acquired certain assets of Mansfield-based

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cincinnati, Ohio-headquartered Rumpke Waste and Recycling Co. has acquired certain assets of Mansfield-based Milliron Industries. The acquired assets include trucks and other capital assets including hauling equipment. According to sources, the deal was finalized during early January.

According to Milliron Industries, the company decided to sell its waste and recycling assets as part of its restructuring operations. The company had earlier sold its waste management business in 1997 and had later restarted the same in 2004.

The proceeds of the sale will be invested in metals recycling division, which the company plans to concentrate in. The company will now focus more on its auto shredding business. The collection of recyclables, especially old corrugated containers (OCC) had been a significant contributor to the company’s revenue. However, the management plans to further strengthen its scrap metal business and explore the scrap plastics market in future.

Meantime, Rumpke will add the acquired assets to its Mansfield operations. The company already has three facilities in the Mansfield area- a dedicated building for carrying out hauling operation, a transfer station and a landfill.

It employs nearly 120 employees in all the three locations. As part of the acquisition, the Milliron employees will be retained by Rumpke.

Since its first Mansfield acquisition in 2009, Rumpke has been steadily expanding its presence in the region.
