Japan's CRC shipments dropped 3% during Jan-Oct '14: JISF

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) suggests that the country’s shipment of cold rolled coils (CRC) declined during the initial ten-month period of the year.
As per JISF data, CRC shipments by Japan totaled 5.28 million tons during January to October this year, 3% lower when compared with the shipments during the corresponding ten-month period a year ago. The country’s CRC shipments had totaled 5.44 million tons during Jan-Oct ’13. Out of the total shipments, those to domestic market accounted for 54%.. The balance 46% was shipped to export destinations.
The shipments during the month of October alone dropped sharply over the previous month. The shipment during the month totaled 515,694 tons, down 7.6% upon comparison with shipments during September this year.
The total CRC inventories by Japan as on August totaled 739,386 tons, going higher by 7.5% when compared with Sep ’14 inventory levels.
