Aluminum press crushes worker

Worker was crushed to death in an aluminum press at BRT Extrusions, Niles.

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The victim was identified as Daniel Banks, aged 49. The victim resided at West Market Street in Leavittsburg. The President of BRT Extrusions, Roy Smith, in an email stated his consolation saying that the company’s prayers and sympathy are with the family, and he refused to comment further.

In order to check whether BRT Extrusions was following any safety precautions to avoid accidents, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced an investigation on the company. The investigators are interrogating the witnesses, employees and officials in the company to know the details about the safety precautions taken during the incident. The Spokesman of OSHA stated that in an investigation conducted on BRT Extrusions in 2007 and 2009, the company was charged against machine guard violations. 

BRT Extrusions is a producer of aluminum extrusions in several custom designs, standard size and standard shapes.
