PERTH (Scrap Monster): Perth Mint launched a new series of coin during Monday for commemorating the 100-year anniversary of World War I. The Mint will release limited editions of coins which tell the story of the war that was declared by Australia and Britain on Germany on August 4, 1914.
The coins will be issued over the coming five years as a part of world war centenary celebrations. Colin Barnett, West Australian Premier said that the coins would tribute the memories of their soldiers who went off to the World War I.
He added that over the coming five years, coins with 18 themes, including the Australia’s first action in New Guinea, would mark milestones in the world war history. The coins will honor the ANZACs, soldiers who came at Gallipoli and to all men and women who served and died for the two countries.
The coin series will be available at Perth Mint and also from the leading coin dealers and Post stores in Australia.
