SACRAMENTO (Scrap Monster): Bitcoin became legal in California can use it for making purchases. It become legal after Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law which cancels the previous restriction on any currency that is not considered as the lawful U.S money.
Thus, it becomes appropriate that California, home of Silicon Valley and the seat of the U.S. technology industry, is the first state to consider digital currencies as legal tender.
The law that makes the digital currencies like Bitcoin legal was signed by California Gov. Jerry Brown. California lawmakers said, “It is impractical to ignore the growing use of cash alternatives.”
Assemblyman Roger Dickinson wrote the bill. He said that it was intended to fine-tune current law to address Californians’ payment habits in the mobile and digital fields.
These currencies had been banned in the state for some time, but this prohibition was upturned by those that believed a ban on digital currencies was outdated.
The main factor which drives the government to legalize the Bitcoin is the growing popularity of mobile commerce and the significant chances in the way of shopping and purchasing products.
