Archaeologists have unearthed a rare Roman copper coin in Russia which is believed to be circulated in fourth century AD.
MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): Archaeologists have unearthed a rare Roman copper coin in Russia which is believed to be circulated in fourth century AD.
“This discovery is a new page in the history of ties between Constantinople and Russia of those times,” said Oleynikov, head of the excavation expedition said.
The ancient coin’s reverse carries the likeness of a she-wolf with Romulus and Remus who are considered as the founders of the Rome and obverse of the coin bears the image of a Roman goddess.
It is said that the the Archeology Institute of the Russian Academy of Science have so far unearthed antique 4,000 artifacts.
