The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has published a major technical report on raw materials improvement in the steel industry

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has published a major technical report on raw materials improvement in the steel industry. The report covers major challenges faced by the steel industry in the management of raw material quality. It is a result of a project undertaken by member companies in co-operation with raw materials and equipment suppliers.

The report provides an assessment of raw material reserves across the world and an analysis of the consumption of different quality raw materials using related technologies. The study focuses on the use of lower-grade raw materials. It also addresses the various beneficiation technologies that can improve efficiency in iron-making process.

The report is classified into three sections; iron ore, coal/coke and iron making technology. It highlights the global and regional availability situation of various raw materials. Furthermore it discusses the various technologies involved in processing of these raw materials. The iron making technology section of the report provides an overview of the processes and good practices prevailing in the industry.
