Massive fire breaks out at South Florida metal scrap yard
A blaze broke out at the scrap metal yard and recycling facility of Trademark Metals Recycling LLC at Opa-Locka
WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) : A blaze broke out at the scrap metal yard and recycling facility of Trademark Metals Recycling LLC at Opa-Locka, South Florida Monday morning. Hundreds of vehicles and tires caught on fire which sent thick clouds of gray and black smoke surrounding the region.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson, none of the businesses, homes or schools located near the scene had to be evacuated. No single person was hurt either. More than two dozen firefighters had to battle out to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Tampa, Florida based Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR) is Florida’s largest scrap metal recycler with 27 locations in Florida and South Georgia. TMR’s recycling facilities include five automobile shredders, one municipal shredder, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, an extensive truck and railcar fleet. The company formed in 1998, employs nearly 500.
