SPF Lumber Falls 2% as Southern Yellow Pine Edges Higher
Western Spruce-Pine-Fir lumber fell to US$464 mfbm in the week ended September 25, while Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 gained to US$503 mfbm, according to Madison’s Lumber Reporter.

Western SPF Falls to US$464 mfbm
In the week ending September 25, 2026, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$464 mfbm, according to weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.
The benchmark declined US$8, or 2%, from the previous week's US$472 mfbm and was down US$26, or 5%, from US$490 one month earlier.
Compared with the same week last year, when the price was US$430 mfbm, Western SPF was US$34, or 8%, higher. It was also US$60, or 15%, above the US$404 level recorded two years earlier.
Southern Yellow Pine Rises to US$503 mfbm
Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was priced at US$503 mfbm in the week ending September 25, up US$3, or 1%, from US$500 the previous week.
The price was US$45, or 10%, above its month-earlier level of US$458.
Compared with the same week last year, when the price was US$350 mfbm, Southern Yellow Pine was US$153, or 44%, higher. It was also US$103, or 26%, above the US$400 level recorded two years earlier.
