SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Rio Tinto and RevoCast Aluminum Billets Ltd. have signed a long-term agreement to expand the availability of low-carbon aluminium billet for extrusion manufacturers across North America.

Under the partnership, Rio Tinto will exclusively market aluminium billet manufactured at RevoCast’s newly commissioned casting facility in Langley, British Columbia. The arrangement combines hydropower-based primary aluminium from Rio Tinto’s Kitimat operations with recycled metal processed by RevoCast.

The collaboration aims to provide manufacturers with access to high-quality billet containing recycled material while reducing transportation distances and strengthening regional supply chains. It also supports greater aluminium circularity.

Rio Tinto noted that the partnership will help customers increase the recycled and low-carbon content of their finished products. Meanwhile, RevoCast President and CEO Thomas Martini described the agreement as a significant development for the company, as it combines its remelting technology with Rio Tinto’s international market presence and industry expertise.

Commissioned in August 2026, the Langley facility has an annual production capacity exceeding 80,000 tonnes of 6xxx-series aluminium billet. The facility incorporates recycled aluminium and advanced remelting technology designed to improve energy efficiency and lower emissions.

The agreement strengthens both companies' presence in North America's aluminium value chain.
