New West Gypsum Recycling

38, Vulcan Street, New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

Established in 1985, Tony and Gwen McCamley established New West Gypsum Recycling, Ltd. (NWGR), with the goal of ensuring that no gypsum ever makes its way to a landfill. Over time, a highly-efficient, innovative process was developed and refined to pulverize the gypsum core and remove the backing paper, leaving the recycled gypsum ready for use. NWGR’s patented process is the cornerstone of recycling over 5 million tonnes of gypsum material to wallboard manufacturers. The recycled material is a consistent, high quality blend of pre- and post-consumer gypsum material, an ecofriendly product conveniently available for use in the manufacture of new drywall products. The paper backing material is baled and reused or repurposed. Any post-consumer materials, like nails or screws, are culled from the gypsum recycling process and moved through separate recycling streams. Importantly, there is no product degradation during the recycling process. As such, gypsum can be infinitely reused and recycled.
