Founder, William Smith Sr along with his wife Mary Smith, opened their first location in August of 1971 at 215 Throckmorton St, Freehold New Jersey. The original facility in Freehold is still in operation today along with our South Amboy facility located at 6075 Main St, South Amboy New Jersey. William Smith Sr, otherwise known as Bill ventured into the scrap metal world when he was only 5 years old, walking the streets of Newark, NJ with his “little red wagon” collecting metals, papers, and rags. He never dreamed he could build the business that is in place today, now operated by the third generation.
