RMS Disposal is a locally family owned and operated business in West Michigan. In 1976 three Jones brothers, Russ, Mike, and Scott, partnered and formed RMS Disposal Inc. in Fruitport, Michigan. The three brothers followed their fathers lead, Doug Jones had ran a similar service since the 1950's up to the mid 1970's, it was call 'Doug Jones Garbage Service'.RMS Disposal currently has 14 garbage and recycling trucks. The team consist of over 10 dedicated employees.The team understands that 'quality of service' is what sets them apart from their competition, they do this by keeping up with their routes, regularly servicing and maintaining their equipment and keeping competitive. They also have a staffed office to help answer questions as well as to dispatch trucks and containers. Best of all, you will always get straight answers and no gimmicks, or sales pitches - it is what it is.

Welcome to RMS disposal Inc., we are a company built on providing quality garbage service to a large section of Western Michigan. RMS Disposal has always been locally owned and operated, and we do our best to keep things in our community.Our services include both residential and commercial disposal and recycling. We also offer fertilizer from our Fruitport, Michigan location.We are constantly maintaing, upgrading, adding and replacing the RMS disposal Inc. fleet of vehicles. The service garage at RMS is very large with several bays, we keep our trucks in top shape in order to provide great service. Our goal is to be consistant in our service as well as effecient and as quiet as we can be.Industries are ever changing, the disposal business is no exception. The days of one or two men loading with another driving a rear loader, has evolved into a single person both driving the truck as well as contolling the front loader or the automated side loader. our staff at RMS is dedicated to providing trained operators with the proper equipment all while doing our best to keep the dollars in West Michigan.

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING

  • No.1 and No. 2 recyclable plastics (milk jugs, liquid detergent bottles, plastic soft drink bottles, etc.) Please rinse and remove lids. Lids are not recyclable and should be placed in the garbage.
  • Glass - Please rinse and remove lids. Lids are not recyclable and should be placed in the garbage.
  • Magazines and Shopping Catalogues - Both magazines and home shopping catalogues are recyclable. Place them in your recycling bin or with newspapers. A brown paper bag may also be used, NOT a plastic bag.
  • Newspapers - Newspapers and inserts are recyclable. Place them under the bin or on top or beside the glass, aluminum, metal and plastic in your bin. To prevent newspapers from being blown by the wind, you may stack them on top of, beside or underneath the recycling bin or place them in a brown paper bag. Please no plastic grocery bags.
  • Cardboard - Please place cardboard at curbside for recycling collection. Cardboard cannot be scheduled for bulky item collection. To ensure collection, please make sure that all cardboard boxes are empty, cut into pieces no larger than 3 feet x 3 feet, flattened and stacked neatly at curbside on your scheduled collection day.
  • Plastic Bottles - Please remove the lids and crush the plastic bottles before placing them in the recycling bin for collection. Lids are not recyclable and should be placed in the garbage.
  • Spiral Paper Cans - Spiral paper cans, round cans with spiral grooves on the side and metal bottoms, may be recycled. Remove any plastic or metal lids and rinse or wipe out any remaining food stuff.
  • Steel Cans - Steel food containers should be rinsed out to remove any remaining food stuff before placing in the recycling bin for collection.
  • Telephone Books - Each year the City collects out-dated residential telephone books. Placemail your directory in the recycling bin or place underneath with newspapers.
  • Aluminum cans - Please rinse and crush cans before placing them in the recycling bin.
  • Junk mail - Mail and envelopes can be recycled.
  • Mixed paper
  • Gift wrap

What NOT to place in recycling bins:

  • Wax-coated paper products
  • Pizza boxes - Even though the boxes may have a recycling symbol on them, they are not recyclable due to contamination from pizza/grease residue.
  • Old clothing
  • Small appliances
  • Regular household garbage
  • Styrofoam and Styrofoam products

YARD WASTE

  • Our yard waste program runs from April to November.
  • Your yard waste must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on your collection day. If possible, your container should be at street level.
  • Keep your yard waste container five feet away from all obstacles such as parked cars, mailboxes, telephone connection boxes, water meters, fences, and walls. If you place your container under a tree limb or power line, make sure there is 14 feet of space between the curb and the tree limb or power line.
  • The handle of your container should point towards the road.
  • NO BAGS of any kind. The lid needs to be closed for pick up.
