Office Recycling Solutions is a LOCAL, RIOS (Recycling Industry Operating Standard) and R2 Certified* New England company that is more than capable to handle all of the electronic and universal waste recycling needs of businesses, residents, government agencies, non profits and educational organizations. Our company has been at the forefront in the state on training and partnering with many local organizations. We currently work with numerous cities and towns in RI, MA, CT, NY and GA on their e-waste recycling program. We are the only company of its type in RI and count many local companies, universities, municipalities and non-profits as partners! We are also the ONLY company in RI and MA with a contract arrangement with many of the largest electronics manufacturers on handling the independent collection programs approved by the states.

Since its formation in 2005, ORS has grown into the largest e-waste recycler of its type in Rhode Island. We can handle ALL of your electronic and universal waste needs from TVs, CRT Monitors, lamps, batteries, CPUs and all other items such as printers, cartridges, wire and cable, UPSs, etc.ORS operates as a Large Quantity Handler Destination Facility for the collection, consolidation and dismantling of universal waste. We are R-2 certified and are required by state laws to appropriately track and manage universal waste and have procedures in place to protect the environment during transportation and handing.

Why Recycle?

Most people do not realize that old electronic items are technically “hazardous waste“. Computer monitors have lead while there is mercury in some items. There are also a lot of precious metals that can be recaptured and broken down and resold. Some of the monitors will be in good working condition and can be resold. There’s a certain monetary value and a certain environmental value. We definitely don’t want any of the toxins released into the atmosphere, as with mercury, or the water with lead. So when it’s time to dispose of the electronic waste, it should not get tossed into the company dumpster or the household trash.

Consumables Recycling Program Services

We can help your company or group start a recycling program as a means for properly disposing of consumables, a fundraiser and/or a community awareness campaign. By joining the ORS Recycling Program you will:

• Earn money for empty laser and ink jet cartridges collected
• Convey the importance of environmental responsibility and conservation.
• Increase your visibility in the community by being a collection center for the recycling of these cartridges.

All cartridges you send into ORS will be accepted. We buy hundreds of different types of inkjet and laser cartridges while prices vary from time to time. The program coordinator will be notified regularly with current pricing. The more cartridges you send in, the more money you make! Actively participating groups can earn hundred of dollars per month!

E-Waste Recovery Days

Most electronic products used in the workplace and homes contain hazardous substances such as lead and mercury. When these products reach the end of their useful lives or become obsolete, some are considered hazardous waste. Hazardous waste may not be discarded in the regular trash! A great option for disposal of this waste is to bring these items to our collection days and help the environment while raising money for a worthy cause!
ORS can help your organization sponsor a fundraising event for collection of e-waste, document shredding and other items. We have sponsored more events than any other private company in the state and have raised significant funds for the sponsoring organizations, while keeping these items out of the landfill. ORS has raised over $40,000 for area non-profits and collected over 200 tons of electronic waste!

We will work with you on a program and day for the event. Please call us to discuss this service. Residents and businesses with unwanted electronics may take them to the announced locations on the scheduled dates. There will be collection trucks ready to take your unwanted electronics and documents and you can stop and learn more about the sponsoring organization! Most items will be collected for a donation to the Charitable Organization; however, some items such as TVs, copiers and air conditioners require a disposal fee. No white goods please!These will be win-win events and are responsible ways to properly dispose of your electronics at a convenient location!
