Windsor Sanitation is committed to taking steps to offer recycling services that contribute to helping the Environment.We currently have single stream recycling and cardboard recycling dumpsters available ONLY to our commercial and business customers. Card board dumpsters come in 4, 6, 8, and 10 cubic ft. sizes and require that boxes be fully flattened to maximize load.Single stream for retail and office locations are similar to what we typically see in residential recycling programs. Pickup is every other week, 65 gallon rollout carts are provided by Windsor Sanitation.The only requirement is all items for single stream recycling MUST BE clean and free from food contamination and debris. Otherwise, put it in the trash.For office locations we also separate out white office paper to help further contribute to the Environmental benefits of our efforts. These are 96 gallon barrels usually picked up on call.Together we can make our communities cleaner.

RESIDENTIAL SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING

What’s recyclable? Here’s what you should put in Big Blue every other week:

• Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, phone books
• Paper, paperboard, cardboard, paper bags
• Hard and soft cover books
• Rinsed glass and metal food containers
• Rinsed aluminum foil, cans, juice and milk cartons
• Rinsed plastic containers marked #1 through #7.

Household garbage goes in your green cart for collection every week:

• Food waste
• Plastic bags, plastic wrap and trash bags
• Styrofoam and Polystyrene
• Empty motor oil containers, empty medicine bottles, non-fluorescent light bulbs
• CDs and DVDs
• Ice cream cartons
• Pots, pans, coat hangers and garden tools.

Our sizes range from 2 cubic yards to 30, allowing us to service any size customer including: restaurants, apartments, condos, residential communities, shopping malls and service stations.Windsor Sanitation also offers large, small and special purpose COMPACTOR and BAILER SYSTEMS to help you save money and comply with recycling and environmental policies. Onsite compacting has never been so easy.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

We are proud to have served the Windsor Community for more than 4 decades. If you are a resident or current customer, we have made it easy for you to get the information you need on our trash removal procedures and services.Windsor Sanitation has the trucks, equipment and experience to safely and effectively remove trash from a neighborhood. Our pick-up routes are mapped to maximize efficiency and save our customers money.Beyond the weekly barrel collection we also offer hand pick up services for bulky items, appliances and electronics as well as bulk yard waste and leaf bag collection. We also have dumpster rentals for home improvement projects. These dumpsters range from 8 to 30 cubic yard sizes and are perfect for home and estate clean-ups and clean-outs as well as renovation projects, extra large or heavy bulky items, tires and demolition debris. Only Windsor and Bloomfield residents can order eight yard dumpsters.

TRASH BARREL INFORMATION

You have been provided with one (96 gallon) barrel. Trash will be collected once a week on your designated collection day*.Place the barrel on the sidewalk or in front of the curb by 7 AM** Handles facing the house, arrows facing the streetAllow 2 ft. distance from objects such as mailboxes, telephone poles, fire hydrants and other barrels. With the lid properly closed, the barrel will be wind proof and secure from animal tampering.

Remember, the barrel belongs to Windsor Sanitation and is provided for your use. Please care for it as you would your own property. Please refrain from writing anything on these barrels, or putting any labels, stickers, etc. on them as well. You are responsible for a damaged or lost barrel, beyond what is considered normal wear and aging.For normal wear and tear barrel replacement a new barrel will be provided at no cost in exchange of the damaged barrel.

If your trash barrel is reported lost or stolen an $85 fee will be charged and unless a copy of a official police report is presented to us you will continue to receive this fee annually. Any theft found will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Recycle barrels are a one-time $85 fee. A permanent second barrel is available upon request.If you move, please call the office at (860) 688‐3955 so we will know to retrieve the barrel. Do not take barrels with you upon moving, or you will be charged.
