Plus II Bottle Depot

7601 Resources Rd, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada |

Recycle Plus provides employment opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities through their two bottle depots that operate under the trade names Plus I and Plus II.We provide refunds for all beverage containers purchased in Alberta that a deposit has been paid by the purchaser at the retail outlet.

The GPDAPDD purchased its first bottle depot in 1980. This business decision was based on the need to provide employment opportunities for our disabled clients. We started as one small depot on 124th Street. In 1981, we moved operations to 8702-113 Street (where Swan Industries is now located.) In order to serve our customers better, the business relocated again in to 10502-96 Avenue (next to the Eco Centre). As the City of Grande Prairie continued to grow, so did the need for a second depot. In 2004, Recycle Plus applied and was granted a second license to operate a bottle depot. This new depot took almost two years to site and develop and when it opened it was considered state of the art in the industry. The depot is large with natural lighting streaming into the foyer. The Association was one of the first in the industry to install a POS system with computer monitors so the customer could see how his/her containers were being counted. Stainless steel sinks along with paved parking includes a designated handicapped stall and ramp access. This depot has continued to pave the way in the industry being the first in North America to implement automated sorting and counting technology in both its front and back end operations.

We have received awards for Excellence for Quality Control (accurate counts) and Community Participation. Bags are audited to ensure accurate refunds are being provided to our customers.

WHAT WE OFFER

Recycle Plus buys beverage containers that have been registered with the BCMB by returning the deposit that the purchaser has paid.

Recycle Plus is committed to providing the best service possible

Our new state of the art PLUS II depot, located on Resources Road, is clearly the bottle depot of choice for most Grande Prairie residents. Forty-two parking stalls (a designated stall for handicapped clients), large foyer, sorting stations and friendly staff to serve you are all ingredients for good customer service. February 2012 saw the renovation of this depot to include sorting and counting technology on both front and back end operations. On the front end, the majority of a customer’s order that are one litre and under can be processed through the front end very quickly by a simple count stream. On the back end, much of the work is done by sorting the containers into specific material streams: Aluminum, PET (clear and colored) and bi-metal.
This change to operations impacts the amount of time it takes to serve you. Whether your returns are processed through the new stations or the old, your order can now be processed so much more quickly. To take advantage of new front end technology, please refer to the sort list for Plus II.

The PLUS I depot located at the Recycling Centre is customized to handle commercial clients, process Power Plus Program clients and the Bottle Donation Program. Bottle Drives are also coordinated from this site. All orders can be handled efficiently from this site and to provide a faster return,
