P & L Recycling LLC

2261 Church St, Weldon, Iowa, United States |

Welcome to the recycling of metals.  Look around you and I bet you'll see something metal that doesn't belong in the landfill.  Instead of tossing it in that big black trash bag, sell it to us.  You'll be glad you did and future generations will thank you for it.

It is hard to pin-point an exact date of when P & L Recycling came to be. First started by Paul Palmer Jr. and his wife, Laura Palmer, as P & L Auto and Salvage in the early 1990's; it evolved into recycling. By 2003, recycling was all there was time for. Joined by their sons, Paul Palmer III and Kacey Palmer, they slowly expanded to handle a larger capacity. As the work load grew, naturally more family members were needed. By 2005, a second location in Albany, MO, was purchased. In May 2011, The Albany location moved to a larger, better location north of Bethany, MO.In February 2012, after a record year and a record january, we became an LLC company.During the fall of 2013, sons Paul III and Kacey were officially added to the business as members of the LLC.In early March of 2015, after a long trend of low metal prices, a hard decision was made to close the Bethany, MO location until further notice.

What We Do

We buy many different kinds of metals.  Our staff will help you unload and sort your materials to make sure you get high compensation for your material.  Able to handle 1 pound of copper to a whole vehicle, our inside scales and our 100 ton outside scale make it easy.  Unlike others, we believe in educating our customers and giving every customer a receipt every time.  Our honesty will help you feel at home at our small family business.

Services

We do pick-up automobiles. There is a pick-up charge associated with this service which is deducted from what the vehicle is worth depending on how far we must drive to pick it up. Call for pricing! Must have valid title, junk certificate, or 'authority to demolish' from county sheriff when picked up. Can either hand paper over at time of pickup and the check can be mailed, or owner can drive here to get the check. We also pick up farm equipment and other misc. metal, if we can haul it. Similar charges apply. Weather permitting when we can pick-up. If on dirt or grass, must be dry or frozen. Our heavy equipment and trucks sink on soft ground. If on gravel or pavement, weather permitting, less chance of delay of pickup. Our policy is first come, first served. Call for any other inquiries.

We also have semi's with tall and short Gondola(open top) tub trailers and flatbed trailers that we can haul larger amounts of material at a time. Also a roll-off truck is available which hauls around our 4 roll-off tubs which are the same size as the Large Waste Management containers for waste. We have 2 of the taller ones and 2 of the shorter ones. So we can meet most needs as we can also haul our excavators, skid steers, and Small and Large Wheel Loaders or if close enough we can drive our large wheel loader to the site of cleanup. We have very competitive rates, so don't be afraid to call for pricing!

We also have a crane truck with a large magnet attached so we can easily pick up piles of metal and load it either in it's own box or on another trailer!

We are also able to do Farm Cleanup's as we have the equipment to do so. Please check out our prices/rates for cleaning up your farm/job site.

Can & Bottle Redemption Center
As of 9-15-14, The Can & Bottle Redemption Center at the Weldon, IA location is to remain permanately closed after some tough considerations and thinking this last week or so. The cans/bottles that are still here to be counted will be counted as promised, but no more cans/bottles will be accepted effective immediately. If there are any complaints because of this action, please direct them to Bill Blum with The Iowa Department of Natural Resources at bill.blum@dnr.iowa.gov . He is a person that can have opinions voiced to on the matters concerning Redemption Centers and why they are all closing here in Iowa. We Redemption Centers have been fighting, trying to get them to ammend the bottle bill here in Iowa so that we profit more than $.01/ can or bottle because the Redemption Centers cannot operate on that alone. Since the beginning, the only way we could keep ours operating is because we do metal recycling also. Even on our best weeks with cans/bottles, it could Barely touch the wages of our can counter ladies and thats not even taking into account the other overhead expenses of operating it. It's all the same for every Redemption Center in Iowa. They say our roads are cleaner than our neighboring states because of the bottle bill, but they are wrong! We have our Bethany, MO location and down there with no bottle bill, the aluminum cans are bought by the pound which equals to just over $.01/ can for the customer. People down there scour the ditches looking for cans and don't throw them out because it's pure profit per can they keep. Up here, all you get is your $.05 back that you paid for. It's time we all stand up to the state gov't and tell them what we want/need instead of the other way around. I keep watching Redemption Centers closing left and right or doing limited days/hours or new ones opening and then within a years time closing. Come on Iowa, wake up!

To our customers, There's no hard feelings and we hope there's none towards us for this decision, but we just couldn't afford to keep the money drain open any longer, we held out as long as we could, but we can't any longer and for that, we apologize.

Dump Truck Hauling
We also have 3 dump trucks so that we can haul what you want us to haul! Very competitive rates also!

Excavator Work/Pond Repair/Building
We have an excavator that we are able to do repairs on ponds, pond dams, and also build ponds for you. For examples, just come out and look at the ones on site. The ponds here, we have built including the one we call 'the lake'. Very competitive pricing and good experience!!! Call for more information (641-342-6459)
