Deeco Metals

655 Main St, Travelers Rest, South Carolina, United States |

Deeco Metals was founded in 1986 as a North American Sales Office for a group of international metal producers based in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and the UK. The goal was to create a company with the technical & metallurgical background in manufacturing metal and metal parts. This experience was needed to respond effectively to the requirements of our customers within the USA, Canada, and South America.

Deeco Metals sells products to customers within a mile of our facility all the way to those on the other side of the world, from OEM’s to machine shops to mega mills. Deeco supplies close tolerance metal components fromCopper, Brass, Bronze, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Steel and various grades of Iron, and also provides complete assemblies.

We have a full range of foundry casting processes producing custom castings. Our plants also have extrusion and forgingcapabilities to supply most all metal shapes and custom parts. Our standard procedure is to always offer first article samples as well as prototypes for approval, prior to beginning production. Our customers trust us with their critical parts because we manufacture it right the first time and every time thereafter.

Part of our company philosophy is to encourage open dialog between our customers, engineers & purchase people. Honest one on one discussions allow us to determine what is important to our customers, especially technical requirements, pricing, service, and quality. Once we know the key requirements we can address them, open the lock, and start building a long term and profitable relationship for both our customer and Deeco.

Deeco Metals, as well as our mills, know the need for Quality Assurance, so accreditation to ISO standards was a natural progression. We maintained ISO 9000 Certification from 2006 to 2009 and still operate under the principals of ISO 9000 but made the decision to no longer remain in the certification program. All our partner plants are ISO certified, allowing us to assist and ensure the best quality procedures possible to our customers. The basis of this accreditation is the emphasis on continued improvement and commitment to supply our customers with products at the best quality and lowest prices.

Our headquarters is located in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. We are located just a few miles from the commercial in-land shipping port of Spartanburg, SC as well as the coastal port of Charleston, SC and is central to major trucking routes. Our 20,000 square foot warehouse maintains a substantial inventory of all of our customers’ strategic products. Deeco has long term relationships and manufacturing partners with mills in South Africa, Turkey, Italy, China, Korea, Spain, India and Taiwan.

Mission Statement

Deeco Metals is dedicated to providing products and services which meet or exceed our customer's requirements, as well as to the continual improvement of the effectiveness of its quality management system.

Deeco Metals strives to build and maintain relationships which provide opportunities for long-term success, profits, and growth for all parties involved within the supply chain.

Custom Metal Castings

Custom Metal Cast

Whatever type of casting you need, our staff at Deeco Metals and our casting foundry will analyze your particular requirements and recommend the most effective and economical method possible.

Recent years have seen the introduction of a number of new metal castings processes, often aimed at specific product applications. While these techniques are still, to some extent, under development and are certainly not available at all job shop foundries, their inherent advantages make them valuable additions to the designer.

Squeeze Casting. This process aims to improve product quality by solidifying the casting under a metallostatic pressure head sufficient to (A) prevent the formation of shrinkage defects and (B) retain dissolved gases in solution until freezing is complete. This method was originally developed in Russia and has undergone considerable improvement in the U.S. It is carried out in metal molds resembling the punch and die sets used in sheet metal forming.

After introducing a carefully metered charge of molten metal, the upper die assembly is lowered into place, forming a tight seal. The 'punch' portion of the upper die is then forced into the cavity, displacing the molten metal under pressure until it fills the annular space between the die halves.

Squeeze casting produces very low gas entrapment, and castings exhibit shrinkage volumes approximately one half those seen in sand castings. Very high production rates, comparable to die casting but with considerably lower die costs, are also possible. The process produces the high quality surfaces typical of metal mold casting, with good reproduction of detail. Rapid solidification results in a fine grain size, which in turn improves mechanical properties. Squeeze casting can be applied to many of copper and aluminum alloys, although die and permanent mold casting alloys should be favored.

Deeco Metals’ foundries manufacture a range of different castings employing the following casting processes:

Die Casting (High or Low pressure)
Investment Casting (Lost wax or Precision Cast)
Permanent Mold Casting (Gravity Die Cast)
Sand Casting
We also offer Continuous or Centrifugal Castings solid and hollow bar stock. Depending on your specific application needs, our technical engineers, metallurgists at our casting foundry will recommend the most suitable and economical casting method per your application.

The alloys we produce are Copper based (brass & bronze), Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Nickel based and other specialty steels.

We specialize in manufacturing metal castings for Electric Motor Housings, Gear Boxes, Pump Housings and Parts, Valve Bodies and Parts, Fire Sprinkler Frames and other Fire Sprinkler Parts as well as many other industrial and commercial components and parts.

Our foundries have established and effective quality assurance system that ensures accuracy and compliance to ASTM & SAE standards. Our plants use Optical Comparators, hand held measuring devices, spectrometers and other quality or mechanical measuring equipment to inspect all the castings and parts. In addition to the casting operation, we also offer value-added services such as full or partial machining components and surface conditioning such as painting, plating, powder coating & for aluminum, anodizing. We also offer semi or fully assembled parts or sub-assemblies.
