Characteristics

304 Stainless Steel Flat, is a hot rolled stainless shape is ideal for all applications where greater strength and superior corrosion resistance is required. 304 is the most versatile and widely used stainless steel. It is also known as 18/8 from the nominal composition of type 304 being 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Stainless steel rectangular flat bar is sometimes referred to as strip bar. 304 Stainless Steel Flats is the standard '18/8' stainless steel; 304 stainless steel grades is the most versatile and most widely used stainless steel, available in a wider range of products, forms and finishes than any other. It has excellent forming and welding characteristics. The balanced austenitic structure of 304 stainless steel grade enables it to be severely deep drawn without intermediate annealing, which has made this grade dominant in the manufacture of drawn stainless parts such as sinks, hollow-ware and saucepans.

304 / 304L stainless steel bar is easy to machine and stamp and can be welded. It exhibits high strength and toughness, high corrosion resistance and a smooth surface that is easily cleaned and sanitized. 304 stainless bar is used for components and parts in highly corrosive, high temperature and sanitary environments. It is an economic, high performing material.

304 Stainless Flat has a durable dull, grainy mill finish and is widely used for all  types of fabrication projects that are exposed to the elements. Stainless Flats 1/2' thickness and under are sheared and edged, thicker sizes are a true bar. True bar is available on request for thinner sizes.  This material is mill finish, NOT Polished.
