Sarber Jewellers Ltd.

700 - 525 Seymour Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada | Precious Metals

Sarber Jewellers was started in 1966 by my father Harry Sarber. 'Harry J. Sarber Ltd' was a small 3 room workshop at 144 West Hastings St across from Woodwards department store. Specializing in everything from custom ring manufacturing to repairs, Harry kept busy doing all aspects of jewellery manufacturing. The early seventies saw the first expansion of the business.

A location across the street at 163 West Hastings became available. It was a larger space in a busy building, perfect for an expanding business. There we stayed for over 30 years acquiring additional rooms as they were needed. In 1978 after graduating from high school, I joined the family business full time. My father taught me everything he knew about jewellery manufacturing. I found that I enjoyed the 'production' side of the business, pouring and rolling metal, casting, and stamping gold and silver blanks.

As the years went by, our business model evolved. The Native Jewellery industry was starting to expand at a rapid pace. There was a need for high quality gold and silver sheet for engraving as well as casting in larger volumes to meet the demand for this British Columbia art form. As a result, we began to increase our focus on precious metal sheet and blanks as well as increasing our casting capabilities.

In 2006, the building at 163 West Hastings was sold and renovated, forcing the remaining tenants to move. I felt that this was the right time for me to take over the business as Harry was now in his seventies. So, with a new location at 525 Seymour Street, I increased the size of my casting equipment to accommodate larger pieces. We are now able to cast small sculptures in bronze up to 9' in height as well as large trees of silver and gold castings.

In addition to casting and finishing we stock and manufacture a complete range of gold and silver sheet and wire. Other products and services include solders and flux, sterling silver chains, wood carving knives, wax injecting, rubber mold making, and soldering. With no minimum size orders we are happy to serve everyone from jewellery students to jewellery professionals.
