McGuires Buildings

McGuire’s Buildings was established by Howard McGuire on the family dairy farm in Pine Mountain in December of 1969. Five years later Howard moved the business to Columbus. His son Paul, while a senior in high school, started working full time in the business as part of the student work program and on Saturdays. Paul, who has been working in the portable building business ever since, still enjoys the business and meeting new people.

Howard sold the business in 1985, but Paul stayed on for 20 years to run the company for the new owners. In 2005, Paul purchased the Phenix City location from the company, changed the name to McGuire’s Buildings, and went into business for himself.

In 2007, Paul started manufacturing the portable buildings with long time friend Bruce Lisle and Bruce’s sons Nick and Chris Lisle. They formed a company called Sturdi Buildings, Inc, leased a building in Hamilton, Ga. and began constructing their own buildings. Sturdi Buildings is now the corporate name doing business as McGuire’s Buildings. Paul, Bruce, Nick and Chris stand behind each building and offer a great 10-year workmanship and leak warranty and service long after the sale.

McGuire’s operates 3 retail locations in Phenix City, AL, Columbus, GA. and Newnan, GA. In addition, Sturdi and McGuire’s has dealers in Carrolton, GA., and Valdosta, GA. Most recently Sturdi Buildings/McGuire’s Buildings has moved into their new plant in the Harris County Industrial Park. Yes, their buildings are built locally.
