Nutana Machine Ltd.

History

Nutana Machine Ltd. was established in 1946 in the Nutana area of Saskatoon as a machine and welding shop servicing mainly agricultural, transportation, and construction industries.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Nutana is Saskatoon's oldest neighborhood and was founded in 1883. Over the years the zoning enabled a mix of lumber yards, construction, bottling companies and even a milk processing dairy etc. Today the area it is predominately residential with entertainment, restaurants, and shopping on Broadway Avenue. The large North industrial area of Saskatoon didn't exist back then. After many expansions in the Nutana location the business outgrew the land available.

In 1980 the business was relocated to its current location in the North Industrial area on 3.25 acres and a much larger facility. The most recent expansion in 2013 brought the facility to 37,000 square feet.

Carl Galbraith, one of the original founding partners was a machinist by trade and had a very firm grip on quality, fairness, and integrity in business. These values of respect for employees, customers, and suppliers have continued to be the guide for the second and third generation of the Galbraith family management.

Don Galbraith joined the company in 1973 after gaining outside experience in the mining, and oil industries and earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tod Galbraith, the third generation, joined the company in 2000 also after gaining outside experience and a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Three generations but more importantly, every step of the way our employees have defined the company and we have been fortunate to attract superior long-term talent.
