Colonial Bronze Company

511 Winsted Road , Torrington, Connecticut, United States | Brass/Bronze

A Rich History of Producing Quality Products

For over 90 years, Colonial Bronze has produced the finest cabinet and architectural hardware available. Unlike our competitors, we DON'T import finished hardware from over seas - we never allow anyone else to be responsible for the quality that bears the Colonial Bronze name. We control every aspect of our production and the level of quality that goes into our products, from start to finish. When you order hardware from Colonial Bronze, American craftsmen and women will do their best to deliver the finest products you can find anywhere.

A Brief Look At Our History

In 1927, Swiss Immigrant brothers, Maximillian F. Ruefli and Joseph A. Ruefli, opened their first shop on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx.

In 1930, Colonial moved to Torrington, Connecticut, in the heart of what was then known as 'Brass Valley,' home to nearly all of the country's producers of brass products.

By 1948, Colonial Bronze was expanding again, nearly doubling the factory's original size.

In 1996, Coloinal Bronze expanded again. In addition to more than doubling capacity again, Colonial upgraded to state of the art manufacturing facilities.

Colonial Bronze Today

Today, Colonial Bronze is still, third-generation, family owned and operated in Torrington, Connecticut. Colonial Bronze is displayed and sold in over 500 showrooms across North America. Colonial products are still produced from start to finish, in-house at our only factory location in Connecticut. Colonial offers its hardware in an industry leading 46 different finishes; and every lacquered finish comes with a lifetime-tarnish free guarantee. All Colonial Bronze products are certified 'green,' and made from 94 % pre-consumer recycled brass.
