Laporte Township was established in 1830 and covers 56.9 square miles. Centrally located in Sullivan County, the township covers 478 square miles. Laporte Township has 18.07 miles of Township road to maintain with a population of 373.

Monthly meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm. The Township building is located at 4987 Route 220, 1 ½ miles south of Laporte.
