Johnny Cunningham, founder and owner of Cunningham Metals, started in this line of business in Metairie, LA in the late 1960’s, loading scrap metal by hand into the back of a truck. Shortly thereafter, he returned to his roots in Fort Smith, AR and operated another scrap metal business. in 1972, he moved his family to Russellville and purchased the business at its current location. Since those humble beginnings, Mr. Cunningham has built the business and gradually transformed it into the full-fledged recycling center that it is today.
