In 1988, Nesco, Inc. was founded by Bill Nesselrotte, a Registered Professional Mining Engineer graduate from West Virginia University and an 8th generation West Virginian. Using only personal resources and 15 years of mining and development experience, coal reserves and equipment were acquired and a surface mining permit was developed for the Bakerstown coal seam located in Barbour County, West Virginia. Since this initial operation, multiple sites have been successfully mined and reclaimed in 10 different coal seams in 5 counties throughout north central West Virginia
