TJ Martin, a native of Illinois for most of his life, has always had a vision of putting customers first, and bringing the best service to the customers as possible. After studying at the University of Missouri, Martin began his career in the jewelry business in 1994. TJ began his career in jewelry working for a large regional chain store, and stayed with the store for over 13 years. In October of 2007, TJ opened his own store TJ's Fine Jewelry. TJ decided to open his own store for a number of reasons, but the biggest reason he decided to open his own store was his dedication to customers, and not the books bottom line.

TJ in his own words, 'Loves to educate, teach, and help the customer gain knowledge of the product, and most importantly put less pressure on his customers to make a life changing decision within just a few minutes of time. TJ also wanted to become more involved with his community, friends, and most importantly local causes for the area of Carbondale. TJ's Fine Jewelry has been a store that has donated many times to charity, and has been involved with causes that benefit The Boys and Girls Club, The Womena's Advocacy Center, and many others. He believes in buying local, and keeping your money in the community instead of sending it out through a national chain. One of the greatest aspects of his store in his own words is, 'If you spend your money here, it stays within this community. I spend my money locally, and more importantly if I am out having dinner or at other events in the community. The greatest part about that is if you see me out, I take the time to come up to any and all of my customers, and continue to build a personable relationship with them so when the purchase from my store they think of buying from a friend.
