Peoples was founded in 1922 by William F. Lindberg. After the Depression, Lindberg focused his efforts on the growing needs for electrical construction. In 1951, Peoples Electric Company was incorporated under the laws of the State of Minnesota.
During the 1950s, business continued to grow as Peoples focused on electrical contracting in the health care and manufacturing industries.
In the 1960s, the second generation of the Lindberg family took the reins of the company. By the end of the 1970s, Peoples had become one of the larger specialty contracting firms in the United States. In the early 1980s, Peoples expanded its range of services to include communication system installations and low-voltage cabling. Growth continues as we regularly meet demand in this ever-expanding area for up-to-date technical expertise.
The 1990s brought an increased awareness of energy efficiency and “smart buildings.” In 1993, Peoples added System One Control as an environmental control and building automation systems provider.
Peoples continues to be solely owned by the Lindberg family, with family ownership promoting personable and professional service. As our specialized areas expand, we in turn expand our services to include geographic areas outside of the State of Minnesota. California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are a few of the states in which we have completed projects.
The Peoples corporate headquarters is located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Peoples maintains over 47,000 square feet of office and warehouse space at this location, stocked with over one-half million dollars of materials, tools, field construction and service equipment, vehicles, and testing equipment. Peoples has all the equipment and parts necessary to meet all emergency needs.
