Little Dipper Holdings Ltd

County Energy Park, , Lloydminster, Canada | Liquid Oils and Chemicals Recycling

Since 1988, we’ve been working for you to help preserve our environment. At Little Dipper, used oil collection is not only a service — it’s our duty. Did you know just one litre of used oil can pollute as much as one million litres of water? That is why the safe disposal of oil is so important. In 2006 alone, over 83 million litres of oil were collected and recycled throughout Alberta. Oil recycling isn’t just about preserving the environment. It benefits our country, your family, and your business too. We take our job of collecting your used oil seriously and make sure it’s done right. Our services comply with ISN, Alberta Environment, and the Used Oil Management Association.Little Dipper makes used oil collection easy for you. In order to request a pickup, you can call one of our dispatchers or complete the form on our website to schedule a service—even if you don’t already have an account. With collection trucks located throughout North America, it couldn’t be more convenient for you to have your used lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, or gear lube picked up from your location within 72 hours of contacting us or at a regularly scheduled service time. After we collect the oil from your location, our operator will provide all the necessary environmental paperwork, and payment for the products collected.Once our operator picks up your used oil, it is then transported to our headquarters in Lloydminster, Alberta, where it is stored at our 3 million litre tank farm until processed at a licensed recycling centre for later use. Once processed, it can then be refined into base oil or sold in a many different markets throughout North America for a variety of different purposes. All of the products we collect are recycled appropriately according to industry and government guidelines. Not a drop of oil ever makes it’s way into a landfill.

Little Dipper has been collecting and recycling engine oil and related products since 1988. Recycling plastics that have been in contact with engine oils is one of many services we provide. Plastic is popular for use in containers because of its durability. Unfortunately, it’s not biodegradable, so when it’s sent to a landfill, it stays there for years unless it’s incinerated. Did you know every pound of plastic that isn’t recycled and is later burned uses twice as much energy as it would have if it had been disposed of properly at a recycling center? Every ton of plastic that doesn’t get recycled wastes as much energy as two people use in a year. To make matters worse, manufacturing new plastic products requires significant amounts of energy and labor, and causes pollution in the process. Recycling isn’t only about saving the environment, though. Used plastics collection through Little Dipper saves you time and trouble.Keeping up on environmental regulations can be a complicated process, and violations can lead to stiff penalties. At Little Dipper, it’s our business to know the rules. We collect a wide variety of #2 plastic containers that have had contact with engine oils of all types, including engine, gear, turbine, transmission, compressor oil, and power steering fluid. We also collect plastic pails that have been in contact with engine oils. Without a recycling firm, business owners would have to find ways to dispose of dangerous items by themselves and follow the law at the same time.Oil filters might be small, but they’re everywhere, and over half a billion of them are discarded each year. Little Dipper has applied the same expertise we use to collect and recycle oil and plastics to used filter collection as well. Consider this: for every ton of recycled oil filters, 1700 pounds of steel are recovered. That steel can then be re-used in any number of manufactured items. Steel is the most recycled material in North America. It’s used in most large consumer items and every major construction project. If we didn’t recycle steel, costs would rise tremendously, and the impact on our economy would be enormous. Used filter collection with Little Dipper saves us all money.
