Trap Metal Recycling, LLC

Trap Metal Recycling, LLC, is a Georgia-based scrap metal recycling company.  The company originally began as a one man operation in 2000 when Curtis “Trap” Cook, Jr. began running a mobile scrap route picking up unwanted scrap from neighbors and other members of his community.  With eleven years of experience and a multitude of lessons learned as an independent scrap recycler, a natural next step for Trap was to bring his dream of owning his own scrap facility, to fruition.

Trap Metal Recycling formally became a Limited Liability Georgia corporation in 2011 – the manifestation of an old man’s dream from an earlier time. That old man was Zeb Hartley, the owner’s grandfather. Zeb Hartley believed there was no such thing as trash.  He truly embraced the concept that what one man considers to be trash can be another man’s treasure.  Zeb shared that mantra with anyone who cared to listen, and he inculcated that belief into his grandson, the company’s founder. Curtis “Trap” Cook, Jr. still recalls that lesson as an adult.

TrapMetal Recycling, LLC, is benefiting from an earlier legacy, in many ways.  Employing the tried and true tenets of the late Mr. Hartley, who was nine generations removed when he died, the company is small and debt-free and is being positioned for relatively modest growth over the next 3-5 years. According to the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), “the U.S.-Based Scrap Recycling Industry is a sophisticated, capital-intensive industry and the first link in the manufacturing supply chain, meeting 40% of global raw materials needs”.

As a recycling business, we not only deal in scrap but we also reclaim parts from salvage vehicles as a part of what we do to help sustain the environment.  The salvage vehicles include cars, trucks, buses, and sometimes even heavy machinery, farm tractors and lawn/garden equipment. While these items do not constitute the bulk of our business, we occasionally part out salvage vehicles that we pick up at auction, or from customers who have asked us to remove their junk vehicles from their properties.
