Weekend Recycling

• Recycling bins are located every Saturday/Sunday at the Kingwood Park and Ride lot.
• They collect paper, plastics, glass (clear, green, and brown), cardboard, and aluminum cans.
• The City of Houston also has a single stream recycle truck at the location.
• Bring your recyclables there in bulk!
• Only PLASTIC recyclables should be bagged.

Everything we purchase starts with harvesting the Earth’s natural resources. Then, they get manufactured and produced into goods. After, they are loaded on a ship and/or plane, then finally onto a truck to be taken to a store for distribution. With all that time, energy, and resources can you believe that was only the beginning? Once it’s at the store, we the consumers, get to go and purchase it. We use it a few times, then throw it out. The U.S. is the #1 trash-producing country in the world at 1,609 pounds per person per year. This means that 5% of the world’s people generate 40% of the world’s waste.

Here in Kingwood, recycling is easy to do. It is available every weekend at the Metro Park and Ride. (Yes, Keep Kingwood Green is very well aware of the recent City of Houston, Solid Waste Department’s Holiday, Winter Storm, and other disruptions. However, the opportunity to recycle at the Metro Park and Ride is still active and available.)  Most villages have private trash services that offer curbside or garage door recycling pick up. It’s time to think beyond recycling. We must consciously reduce waste. The happy consequences of this effort are saving money and a healthier environment.
