Family-owned and locally-focused, we've been lighting West Michigan since 1964.

The Light Bulb Co. was founded more than five decades ago when our parents moved from Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Grand Rapids. Our dad purchased the lighting division of a larger family business – and the rest is history!

At the start, we supplied inventory for small hardware stores. As the economy changed and those stores disappeared, we began to connect with businesses directly. Today, we provide lighting solutions (and expertise) for a wide range of clients – including store owners, restauranteurs, property managers, and doctors’ offices. Plus we have a retail showroom for walk-in customers.

Our goal is to educate our customers about the best lighting options for their needs – and to provide the best customer service experience in town. We love our community, and plan to continue serving West Michigan for decades to come!

Bring your old, burnt-out lamps in to the store to recycle them.

Why recycle? Fluorescent, HID, and CFL lamps contain small amounts of mercury, which can be harmful if large quantities are tossed together. Plus, recycling lamps of all types gives you the chance to extend the life of a bulb.
