Battery Recycling
Lead-acid batteries are the environmental success story of our time. Roughly 93 percent of all battery lead is recycled. Compared to 42% of newspapers, 55% of aluminum cans and 40% of plastic bottles, lead acid batteries top the list of the most highly recycled consumer product.
The lead-acid battery gains its environmental edge from its closed loop life cycle. The typical new lead-acid battery contains 60 to 80 percent recycled lead and plastic. When a spent battery is collected, it is sent to a permitted recycler where, under strict environmental regulations, the lead and plastic are reclaimed and sent to a new battery manufacturer. The recycling goes on indefinitely. That means the lead and plastic in the lead-acid battery will continue to be recycled many, many times.
Stationary Power Systems is committed to protecting the environment. The resources of the Earth are important to each one of us and they must be used responsibly. It is essential that the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe must remain healthy and available for everyone. Maintaining a clean environment by reusing and reclaiming resources benefits us all.
We are always conscious of the need to reduce waste and pollutants, conserve resources and recycle materials. SPS recycles 100% of every spent battery we collect to the following EPA approved recyclers:
