WHY RECYCLE?

Since January 2020, the City of Alexandria no longer recycles glass.  If you have been placing your glass in your Recycling or Trash can, it has simply been trashed, adding to our landfills and not recycled. 

Glass produced from recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20% and related water pollution by 50%. Additionally, glass is one of the only packaging materials that can be infinitely recycled in a closed, bottle-to-bottle loop.

​Glass that is recycled through Yellow Dog Glass Recycling is recycled into new glass bottles or crushed into gravel or sand which is used in public works projects.
