Since its initial founding in 1996, Shred First, Inc. has made a consistent commitment to shredding procedures and best practices, Shred First is compliant in regards to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), and Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX). Terry Casey and the Shred First team also participate in Shred School® for for secure data destruction professionals.

As of 2020, Shred First, Inc. is also compliant with ongoing best practices to reducing the transmission of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Shred First’s walk-in shredding services are currently performed outside for the safety of all store visitors. Also, Shred First team members wear masks and personal protection equipment for mobile on-site shredding services.

To date, Shred First, Inc. has partnered with many of the local Des Plaines community businesses as their ongoing shredding partner. In addition, Shred First hosts community “shredding events” as a way for local residents to have their documents, assets, and data securely destroyed in a manner that protects their privacy.
