Where We Started

In 1979 John Pace opened Tarheel Paving with the desire to bring high quality and efficient asphalt paving to Western North Carolina. John grew Tarheel Paving by always putting the customer first and providing high quality paving to every size customer. What began as a small seal coating operation has evolved into a family ran business that includes one asphalt plant, one sand screening yard, five working crews and two different shop locations. As we grow as a company we continue to uphold the values John Pace instilled 45 years ago; family feel, high quality and efficient asphalt paving for all of our customers.

Tarheel Paving is committed to operating in an environmentally responsible manner. We are constantly striving to conduct every aspect of our business in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Not only does our asphalt plant operate with natural gas but also has the ability to include recycled asphalt in all of our different asphalt mixes. While asphalt is the most recycled material in the United States, we recycle over 35,000 tons of reclaimed materials annually.
