Steven Wisbaum has been growing organic food and making compost for over 30 years. In 1996, he founded Champlain Valley Compost Co. both to provide custom composting services to farms and businesses and to make his own premium manure-based compost and topsoil for home gardeners, farmers, and landscape contractors.

In addition to writing a variety of compost-related articles and guides, he has also become the largest distributor of ComposTex compost covers and through these activities has helped composters around the world make better compost using less labor and fuel.
