Our Roots

In 2014, we knew that we wanted to make a difference in our community. Driven by environmental stewardship, we melded our backgrounds in sustainability, policy, community development, sales, and restaurant management into Impact Earth. In July 2014, we developed our very first zero waste service at an event in Ithaca, NY. 

Fast forward to today, Impact Earth now serves the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes Region as the one stop shop for zero waste services and products.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to reduce single-use consumption and divert materials from the landfill through: education, access to products and services, and creation of policy and processes.  

Why Compost?

Recycling food and other organic waste diverts it from landfills and provides a range of environmental benefits, including: 

• improving soil health by recycling nutrients and mitigating the impact of droughts

• reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Why Compost with Us?

Easy to use - Just put your food scraps and other organic materials into the Impact Earth bucket/toter and we’ll handle the messy part of turning it into compost.

Flexible service/pricing - Choose weekly or bi-weekly curbside service or try swapping at one of our retail drop-off locations, where you control when and how often you swap. 

Free compost - We deliver compost to your house every spring if you are a curbside customer. Market members pick up their compost from our store in late April.
