Happy Compost

We are closing the loop on food waste by turning food scraps into compost in the heart of Bozeman, Montana. We are building resilient systems, regeneration, and restoring the soil instead of depleting it. We haul, process, and distribute compost locally.

Founded by husband-and-wife team Ryan Green and Adrienne Huckabone. We brought our skills back home to turn a simple idea into something bigger.

Our journey began with backgrounds in high-density composting, the arts, and agriculture. Adrienne, from Bozeman, leads creative direction, operations, and everything in between. You might see her at farmers markets, on collection routes, or washing buckets of all sizes.

Ryan, has worked across the food waste cycle: from kitchens to farms to large-scale composting in rural Maine and NYC. Now, he’s here, hauling commercial buckets, turning compost piles, and keeping things running day and night, all in the name of healthy soil.

Our Process

Since 2018, we've been using CASP technology from Sustainable Generation to maintain benchmark temperatures for the thermophilic composting process. This advanced system allows us to keep composting efficiently year-round in Montana, even through harsh winters where temperatures can drop as low as -20°F. By ensuring optimal conditions, we’re able to process organic waste quickly and sustainably, no matter the season.

 Every year, We haul and process over 2.2 million pounds of food scraps alone!

We transport all collected organic material back to our compost yard in Bozeman, Montana, where every load is carefully dumped by hand. 

We wash every collected bin for easy commercial service.

We carefully hand-pick any contamination we find because 100% of our feedstock goes back into the soil. We do our best to ensure a clean composting process, but we can’t do it alone!
