Compost Nashville

Compost Nashville began in 2014 with one mission in mind: To help Nashville and Franklin residents divert as much food waste from the landfill as possible and to turn that food waste into nutrient-rich soil with which the local community could grow more delicious food. Essentially we're here to grow food, not landfills. We started with just two bins and a Toyota Camry (affectionately known as 'compost Camry').

Two years later, Crema Coffee became our first commercial composter and we are thrilled to still compost for them to this day. Over time we began composting for other organizations. Check out our local commercial composting partners here.

In the last few years we began meeting the event composting needs for local festivals, pickin’ parties, weddings, and corporate events. We’ve seen the huge impact event composting has had on Nashville and Franklin. Explore our events calendar to see upcoming public events that will have composting on-site.

Now, our carbon negative fleet is diverting millions of pounds of material from landfill, we donate compost to local farms, schools, and community gardens each year, and we get to compost for thousands of homes in Middle Tennessee.
