From humble beginnings in 1997 with just two employees and a small storage unit, it’s safe to say we’ve come a long way! It’s taken time and hard work, but we are proud to see our company grow along with our team each year.

The History of Apex

Founded in 1997

By Chris Ahring in Fairmont City, Illinois, with only one 1-ton truck and one storage unit, Apex originally aimed to buy automotive cores from nearby automotive wreckers and resell them to part purchasers.

By 2002

We had purchased 20 acres of land across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. This allowed us to expand our business and move our operations out of a storage unit and into a facility.

By 2012

We added steel recycling to the available services we could provide, which helped our company continue to grow.

By 2016

Apex Recycling Services was proud to have officially doubled its facility's size! We purchased another 20 acres, allowing us to provide demolition scrap services and materials handling.

Today

Our facility currently sits on 40 acres with over 170,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, including 12 loading/unloading bays. We are proud to have invested in the latest high-tech machinery that supports it, including a Niton X-Ray Alloy Analyzer, radiation detection wands, several Doosan DX excavators, and an 830E Senebogen.
