2010

Curie Environmental Services began in 2010 with a single vision: to make radioactive recycling safer, more accessible, and more sustainable. Founded by Scott and Christie Logan in Albuquerque, NM, Curie quickly launched the nation’s first recycling program for ionizing smoke alarms—addressing a critical and overlooked environmental need.

GROWTH

As demand for responsible radioactive waste solutions grew, so did our services. What started with smoke alarms soon expanded to include tritium exit signs, uranium and thorium compounds, sealed sources, and more. Curie earned a reputation for regulatory precision, safety, and reliable partnership across industries—from healthcare and manufacturing to remediation and government.

Our regulatory expertise is a cornerstone of our work. Curie is licensed by the State of New Mexico to manage over 70 radioactive isotopes at our Albuquerque facility and authorized to perform radiological field services at client locations across the country. We also hold a general license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (10 CFR Part 110.27) for the import of radioactive materials, ensuring global reach and compliance.
