We started Zero Waste in 2021 to solve a simple problem we couldn't overlook: Waste management services in the Washington DC Metro area, including Maryland and Virginia, were falling short. Irregular trash pickups left our streets and business districts unkempt while lumbering garbage trucks blocked traffic.

Worse, the problem went deeper than litter on our streets. Residents and businesses were spending hard-earned money on services that were not just unreliable, but also unfriendly to our planet.

But we knew there was a better way.
