Waste Carpet Depot

Waste Carpet Depot's (WCD) headquarters are in New Castle, Delaware where it operates regional recycling and manufacturing facilities to convert waste flooring materials into sheared carpet fibers and baled carpet padding. Sheared carpet fibers will be sold to processors to make nylon carpet fiber, nylon pellets and plastic components.

In one short year, WCD has become the regional leader in carpet and padding collection in the Mid Atlantic Region servicing clients in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Virginia. WCD works with carpet retailers and installers to divert waste carpet from landfills and recycle the waste flooring materials. WCD currently sends 100% of incoming waste materials to recycling. No materials are sent back to landfills.

WCD long term goals are:
To recycle 15 to 20 million lbs annually of waste flooring materials
100% environmentally friendly process – reducing and eliminating all waste streams
100% of all Delaware’s waste carpet comes through WCD with supporting legislation banning curb side dumping

WCD is a regional solution to the national epidemic of sending over 4 billion pounds annually of non-degradable waste carpet into landfills. WCD works with a network of national collectors to support the larger cause of increased waste carpet recycling and elimination of curb side dumping and landfilling.

As of August 2011, WCD is making solid progress on our goals: The company has increased its collection network to over a 10 million lbs annually, eliminated waste streams to landfill and has 8 recycling centers in Delaware and 30 locations regionally.
