OUR MISSION

Why waste diversion is critical.

Our team is passionate about the preservation of our resources and diverting waste. We stress reducing consumption, reusing items, and, lastly, recycling materials. These efforts are essential for building healthy communities and mitigating climate change. We are actively decreasing the toxic effects of the improper disposal of materials — improving air, water, and overall quality of life in the Greater Cincinnati community and beyond. 

Local impact.

Our local landfill covers 230 acres (the 6th largest in the U.S.) and is the highest point in the Greater Cincinnati area. A recent study of the landfill composition showed that nearly 70% of the waste should have been diverted. The Hub staff works hard every day to provide solutions for hard-to-recycle items (20%), to educate the public about curbside recycling (17%), and to provide partnering composting services (31%).
